H.265/X265/HEVC Support Status in KMPlayer

The KMPlayer is a versatile media player which can cover various types of container format such as VCD, DVD, AVI, MKV, Ogg Theora, OGM, 3GP, MPEG-1/2/4, WMV, RealMedia, and QuickTime among others. However, KMPlayer doesn’t support the new H.265/HEVC/x265 codec video files although H.265 codec video is getting more and more common in video encoding and compressing. ‘KMPlayer’ is my favorite multimedia player for the Windows platform. It’s completely free, supports playing almost all the popular audio/video codecs and container formats. After they released the version 3.3.0.33 which brought the Blu-ray support, added support for few codecs, have fixed a lot of AVI and few more bug fixes as usual. Hence, many people like to play Blu-ray movies with KMPlayer on computer.

However, not everyone can watch Blu-ray with KMPlayer on computer, troubles will appear from time to time. Some feedback unveiled that when some people were trying to play a Bluray on KMP but the sound was really messed up and the video was running extremely fast.

Simply to solve the problem. First navigate to: ‘[F2] > Video Processing > General (tab)’ & Set ‘KMP Video Transform Filter’ to ‘Always Use’. If that doesn’t fix it, try switching to Gabest MPEG-TS Splitter at ‘[F2] > Filter Control > Splitter > General (tab)’.

The KMPlayer is a video and audio player for Microsoft Windows which can play a large number of formats such as VCD, DVD, AVI, MKV, OGG, MPEG-1/2/4, WMV, RealMedia, FLV and QuickTime among others. If you have copied DVD to hard drive as DVD folder, you can use the KMPlayer to play the DVD folder without any DVD player. The video quality is just as the same as playing on DVD Player.

If you don’t know how to play DVD folder with KMPlayer, you can follow the steps below:

1. Open The KMPlayer. The main interface of the KMPlayer in video mode is as the picture below.

2. Right-click on any blank in the window, select menu “Open –> Open Folder”.

3. Browse the DVD folder copied by DVDSmith on your hard drive and click OK.

4. The KMPlayer will start to play the DVD folder.

Step 1: Load DVD disc to the app

When you start up Pavtube DVDAid, the main interface pops up, Load DVD files to the software by click “File” menu, and select “Load from disc” to import source files.

Tip: After importing, all movie titles will be listed in the program. You can preview the imported movie file by double clicking or checking one of them and click the play button under preview window.
